Once again Australia has provided more than its fair share of podiums at this year’s Ironman World Championship with a total of 17 out of a possible 150 top five places. That is 11.3%. Granted a couple of the older age groups didn’t have finishers or limited numbers so in reality we probably provided a higher percentage of the overall numbers. There were three age group wins amongst the 17 podium spots.

Congratulations to the following athletes who did themselves, their families, friends, coaches and country proud.

As always there were the inevitable performances that didn’t go to plan. We had  three or four  age group guys that we are aware of whose runs did not go to plan. These guys were more than  capable of finishing top five on a good day. But that’s the nature of the Ironman World Championship. It dishes out the most brutal conditions that can bring the best laid plans undone.
