Australia Names a Six Strong Junior Triathlon Team for the 2011 World Championships in Beijing
Triathlon Australia has today named a six-strong Australian Junior team to contest this year’s ITU Beijing World Triathlon Championships in September. The team will follow a who’s who of Australian elite juniors who have represented Australia at the ITU World Championships since the first titles held in Florida in 1990. There are four athletes from NSW, one who has re-located to the Gold Coast, a fifth who has re-located to the Wollongong-based NSWIS program and the sixth from Queensland.
Triathlon Australia Celebration of Champions Awards Dinner
The dinner will be held in Sydney on the evening of Sunday 10th April 2011 at the Sydney InterContinental Hotel. This year Triathlon Australia will be featuring and celebrating our six reigning World and Olympic champions. This will finish off a big day for triathlon in Sydney with the ITU World Championship Series races taking place earlier in the day.
World Number 3 Raf Baugh is using the Australian Duathlon Championships to Launch his Bid for the 2010 ITU Duathlon Crown
Elite athlete Raf Baugh has earmarked the Australian Duathlon Championships, to be held in South Australia’s beautiful Barossa Valley on August 15, as the perfect platform to launch his bid to become a world champion. Ranked number three in the world for the run-bike-run discipline of duathlon, Baugh, from Perth, is using the national championships as a final hit-out before venturing to Scotland for the ITU World Duathlon Championships in Edinburgh on September 5.
Australia’s Young Gun Triathletes Ready for Challenging European Season of Racing
The cream of Australia’s rising triathlon stars has been named to embark on a challenging overseas assignment when the annual Young Guns tour gets underway in Europe in July. Ten athletes have been selected for the tour, which is part of the Australian Sports Commission’s National Talent ID and Development initiative.
