Noosa Triathlon Set for a Red Hot Weekend of Racing

One of the strongest fields ever assembled will take on the 29th Noosa Triathlon on Sunday. Chris McCormack was the only Australian to finish today’s Dextro Energy ITU Triathlon Elite Men’s World Champion Grand Final race as the Australian team fought its own war of attrition in Beijing today. It was a tough day in the office for the Australian men’s team who lost rising star Brendan Sexton on the morning of the race with a nasty gastro bug which also added to the early retirement of Beijing Olympian Brad Kahlefeldt after the first run lap.

World’s best in Sydney to kick-off 2011 Dextro Energy Triathlon ITU World Championship Series

It’s set to be a show-stopper as almost all of the top 20 triathletes in the world will line up on the starting grid. All but one of the men and women who made up the top-10 in last year’s final world rankings are on the start lists in Australia’s Harbour City, as well as last year’s winners Barbara Riveros Diaz of Chile and Bevan Docherty of New Zealand.

Reigning world champion Emma Moffatt will be joined by Olympic champion Emma Snowsill and last year’s rapidly emerging Under 23 world champion Emma Jackson in what will be an absorbing home soil battle. Rounding out a full strength Australian women’s team is the well-credentialed Annabel Luxford, Felicity Abram and Felicity Sheedy-Ryan. The Australian men’s team will again be headed by the ever-consistent Olympic duo of Brad Kahlefeldt and Courtney Atkinson. James Seear and Brendan Sexton.

Brad Kahlefeldt wins Mooloolaba Triathlon ITU World Cup 2011

Brad Kahlefeldt has won his third Mooloolaba title and 7th ITU triathlon world cup title after winning the 2011 Mooloolaba round of the Mooloolaba Triathlon ITU World Cup. Brendan Sexton ran himself in to 2nd place for his best performance at this level with France’s David Hauss 3rd.
