Heat is on for the Kiwis in Ironman 70.3 World Championships
The heat is on literally for Joanna Lawn when she tackles the Ironman 70.3 World Championships in the caldron of Las Vegas on Sunday. Lawn is one of four New Zealand professionals to qualify for the world championship along with veteran Bryan Rhodes, Perth-based Guy Crawford and US-based James Cotter.
Joanna Lawn grabs final spot for Kona – Ironman World Championships
Seven-time Ironman New Zealand champion Joanna Lawn has secured the last qualifying spot for October’s Ironman World Championships in Hawaii. She will join fellow kiwis Cameron Brown and Samantha Warriner for the 35th Ironman World Championships on 8 October at Kona-Kailua. Lawn was only one spot off the initial top 25 females who secured their places at the first deadline on 31 July, and so had to wait a further month for the cut for the final five places.

Ironman 70.3 Busselton – Deja Vu.
Just one week after the completion of Ironman 70.3 Port Macquarie the show is back on the road again, but over the otherside of the country when the town of Busselton in Western Australia hosts the Sunsmart Ironman 70.3 Busselton on saturday. As with Port Macquarie there are 25 World Championship places up for grabs, and as with Port Maquarie many of the same pro’s will be facing up to race.
Port Macquarie Ironman 70.3 Triathlon Women’s Race Preview
Melissa Rollison could be the one to watch this weekend. Whether she can win or not will remain to be seen but she is definitely one of the more exciting women to watch race. With Michelle Wu suffering from a foot niggle and Anna Cleaver not racing Rollison has to be one of the hot favourites along with Belinda Granger, Jo Lawn and Rebekah Keat. Madeleine Oldfield is also one that could potentially win after her race at the 2XU Falls Creek long course earlier this year.
