The Return of the Gatorade Triathlon Series

Race 1 of the Gatorade Triathlon Series 2011/12 at Catani Gardens in St Kilda on Sunday 20th November 2011, is on track to be a hotly contested race. Defending series champion Madeleine Oldfield, will be back to defend her title against a host of in-form talent – the event’s biggest pro field for a series opener. Brendan Sexton will be starting his Gatorade campaign and defending his series title from last year.

Christie Sym and Madeleine Oldfield 2nd – 3rd at San Francisco Triathlon at Alcatraz

Christie Sym and Madeleine Oldfield have both raced well to place second and third respectively at the San Francisco Triathlon at Alcatraz. Sym was only 35 seconds behind winner Becky Lavelle with Oldfield a further two minutes back. Sym spent the day chasing Lavelle and got very close to her before the race finish eventually beat her. Madeleine Oldfield had the quickest run of the day in the pro field with a 49:03.

2XU Falls Creek Triathlon – 11 February 2012 – 2km/80km/20km

Entries have opened for the 2012 2XU Falls Creek Triathlon. After a successful debut in 2011 SuperSprint are ready to go again in February next year. Falls Creek sets the scene for a great weekend holiday with exceptionally accommodation and activities for not only triathletes, but for their friends and family. Last year’s winners Leon Griffin and Madeleine Oldfield have both confirmed that they will be there in 2012.

Melissa Rollison wins Ironman 70.3 Muncie

Australia’s women pro’s led the way at Ironman 70.3 Muncie on Saturday with ex Commonwealth Games Steeplechase silver medalist Melissa Rollison taking out the race with a 1:19:19 half marathon. Melissa did not make life easy for herself, exiting the water nearly 3 minutes down on the lead bunch, but she was able to catch all bar Leanda Cave by the end of the bike, and then stormed away from the Brit on the run. Australian’s Christie Sym and Madeleine Oldfield also had good races, finishing in the top ten.

Australian Paul Matthews and Chrissie Wellington win Ironman 70.3 Kansas – report and results

Australia’s Paul ‘Barny’ Matthews has won Ironman 70.3 in Kansas. He did it in style finishing 6 minutes ahead of 2nd placed David Khan from the USA with Australia’s Luke Bell a further 30 seconds back in 3rd place. Josh Rix finished 11th with Christian Kemp having an ordinary race back in 40th. Chrissie Wellington won the women’s race with a 1:16 run (4th overall) with Leanda Cave 2nd and Whitney Garcia 3rd. Madeleine Oldfield had a fantastic 4th place.

Ironman 70.3 Busselton – Deja Vu.

Just one week after the completion of Ironman 70.3 Port Macquarie the show is back on the road again, but over the otherside of the country when the town of Busselton in Western Australia hosts the Sunsmart Ironman 70.3 Busselton on saturday. As with Port Macquarie there are 25 World Championship places up for grabs, and as with Port Maquarie many of the same pro’s will be facing up to race.
