Marathon World Record Broken – 2:03:38 by Patrick Makau
Patrick Makau has broken the world marathon record. He raced to a 2:03:38 on the streets of Berlin, breaking Gebrselassie’s world record by 21 seconds. It was a terrible day for the Ethiopian emperor – he stepped off the road soon after Makau launched a big surge at around 27km, and while he did resume running, he was not a factor and it seems that he bailed some time later.
Australian 10,000m Record Holder Ben St Lawrence to Contest 5000m at IAAF World Champs 2011
In his first major championship since the Commonwealth Games last year Australian 10,000m record holder and Sydneysider Ben St Lawrence will be contesting the 5000m at the IAAF World Championships in Daegu, Korea. The heats are on September 1st and will be shown on SBS2.

How long do your running shoes last
We’ve all been told about the benefits of having a quality pair of shoes when we are out running, training at the gym, or exercising. But how do we know how long these things are supposed to last?? With the answer dependent on a number of factors including a runner’s weight, running style and type of use, there is no clear cut answer. The following guidelines though can help as reasonably accurate ways to gauge how many more runs might be left in your beloved trainers!
