Abu Dhabi International Triathlon Saturday March 13 2010

The inaugral Abu Dhabi International Triathlon is to be held this weekend in UAE. These two events are suited to stronger cyclists and will be highly competitive due to the prize money on offer. The long distance event is a 3km swim, 200km bike and a 20km run. The short distance (a fairly lose term in this instance) is a 1.5km swim, 100km bike and a 10km run.

For the elite athletes there is a prize pool of US$230,000. In addition there is a prize pool of US$20,000 for age groupers.

Australia is represented strongly in the race with Rebekah Keat, Carrie Lister, Cameron Watt, Lisa Marangon and Aaron Farlow entered. Pete Jacobs has unfortunately withdrawn due to a collar bone break.

In the mens field Rasmus Henning, Eneko Llanos and Faris Al Sultan will be hard to beat. The women’s field will see Julie Dibens, Yvonne Van Vlerken and our onw Rebekah Keat as the ones to beat.
