New Zealand Triathlete Samantha Warriner Wins 2010 New Orlean’s Ochsner Ironman 70.3 Triathlon – Top 100 Female Results

Samantha Warriner’s edged out two USA triathletes to win the 2010 Ochsner Ironman 70.3 triathlon in New Orleans. Whilst Warriner was not up to scratch on the bike it was her overall consistancy that proved why she is a great athlete.

Warriner has shown that she can step up from Olympic distance and win the longer races.

Not everything went Samantha’s way today. American Dede Greisbauer exited the swim 5 minutes ahead after Samantha headed to the wrong bouy. On the bike Samantha’s aero bars were not tightened enough and she had to do a lot of the race on the drop bars.

One thing that did pay off was Warriner’s decision to not go with her usual disc wheel. The predicted winds picked up in the second half of the bike and caused a lot of problems for the others who had choosen to race on their disc wheels.

Finishing with a great 1:21:35 half marathon was enough to give Warriner the win.
