Australia’s Jason Shortis exited T2 in 7th place, 15 minutes behind the race leader Mathais Hecht. However at the 18km mark Jason has taken almot four minutes of Hecht and is running strong.

Shortis had a slow swim and came out of the water almost 8 minutes behind the leaders and lost a bit more time on the bike.

Local triathlete, Raynard Tissink, has taken the lead off Hecht at the 26km mark and has taken 1:36 off Hecht in the last 8kms.

Caroline Steffan, winner of the Geelong Ironman 70.3, Australia in February this year, has exited T2 in the lead but has since lost ground on the run. At the 18km mark Steffan has continued her lead and has put some distance between herself and Bree Wee who was with her at T2.
