Australian Joe Gambles has taken out the Ford Ironman Wisconsin in his first attempt at the iron distance and in the process set a new course record. The 28 year old Australian came home in 8:32:32, 11 minutes ahead of second placed Romain Guilluame of France, American Eric Bean came in third.

John Flanagan blitzed the swim in 44:56 and Joe was at the back of the next pack in the swim, exiting the water in sixth at 50:05. With a 4:45:54 bike leg Joe had ridden his way up into fourth spot, behind Konstatin Bachor (who would pull out on the run) Romain and Eric. With a great run of 2:51:54 Joe was able to chase down all his rivals and record a great victory and the beginning of what we hope will be a long and illustrious Triathlon career.
