Chris Lieto and Maik Twelsiek started the marathon with a sizeable lead over the chase group. It only took Chris McCormack inside the first 8 miles to pass Twelsiek. McCormack and Craig Alexander are running at the same pace early on in the marathon and both are eating in to Chris Lieto's lead
