The team at Elite Energy are taking the NSW triseries & ULTIMATE triathlon juggernaut to the thriving and picturesque location of NSW largest inland City Wagga Wagga. With a population approaching 70,000 WaggaWagga is a strong sporting city producing many of Australia’s finest athletes. From world renowned triathlete Brad Kahlefeldt to many top footballers of all codes to mention along with swimmers, cyclists, cricketers, netballers and just about any sport you can think of Wagga Wagga has produced many stars over the years and now the city has opened the door to develop a major triathlon festival.

I have been across Elite Energy’s plans for the triathlon festival weekend at Wagga Wagga for a long time now and I have to say with what I have been hearing it has the potential to be one of the best triathlon weekends in NSW. The whole city is getting behind this event. With the main race taking place from 11am on the Saturday and plans to have a finishing shute style party at the end and in to the evening this should make for a great weekend. Elite Energy have organised for a huge BBQ and party.

This is one of those triathlon weekends where you could possibly say ‘Wagga?’ but don’t. Just pack up and go. Get a friend, your family or a group together and make the most of it. Put in for a few hours off work and head off from Sydney or Melbourne at midday on Friday to make the carbo dinner. With the race finishing on Saturday evening there will be a great opportunity to let your hair down and spend some time recovering on Sunday while all the kids race and the other events are held.

Wagga Wagga is situated almost half way between Sydney and Melbourne with a fairly achievable 4:30 min drive from both cities. Albury Wodonga is only an hour away.

An added bonus for attending this event was unveiled recently with Triathlon NSW General Manager Phil Dally announcing that the Wagga Wagga ULTIMATE race will be the only NSW long course selection race for the world championships in Madrid, Spain in 2012. This will no doubt enhance the racing and will see many of the state’s top long course triathletes in action for the ULTIMATE event.

Always keen to experiment something new Emo and the crew at Elite Energy have put together an exciting weekend format for the Xceler8 triwagga festival.

The weekend will get under way at 6pm on the Friday night with the complimentary welcome to triwagga Commercial Club Carbo night dinner. This is a welcome to everyone from the sponsors, Elite Energy and the City of Wagga Wagga.

Saturday will see 3 triathlon events with the action kicking off with the Enticer and Sprint triathlons followed by the ULTIMATE triathlon.

11 AM Start Time Saturday ULTIMATE

With the late start and the feature race on Saturday athletes have plenty of time to travel both to and from Wagga Wagga. This format has been very successful in US and with daylight savings in full swing the ULTIMATE triathlon is set for an afternoon of finish line party time atmosphere overlooking Wagga’s unique Lake Albert including a complimentary BBQ all provided by the naming rights sponsors Xceler8 Gym and presented by Cargill Meats highlighting the premium quality of the local Riverina produce.

The ULTIMATE bike leg features 4 x 30km loops that will see athletes come past transition on each lap allowing spectators many brilliant vantage points along the banks of the lake. The bike course takes in some great countryside and will provide both speed and challenge. The 20km run will be 2 laps around the lake again offering a superb course for both athletes their supporters and local spectators keen to see why triathlon is one of the fastest growth sports on the planet.

Double series points are on offer for the ULTIMATE and all triseries events along with $6,000 ULTIMATE prize money.

As part of the NSW triseries we have confirmed sponsors prize giveaways this year totaling over $80,000 including a Toyota Yaris, 4 Cervelo bikes, $15,000 of 2XU merchandise, $18,000 of products from Shimano including some of their newest wheels along with Dextro Energy supplement packages and the word is out that Emo is keen to make Xceler8 triwagga a festival to remember the prize box will be MASSIVE when the truck gets packed for destination Wagga.

To top it off Xceler8 are giving every athlete who registers (age conditions apply) in any event over the weekend a complimentary 5 visit pass to the Gym along with this Wagga City Council are providing a complimentary entry pass to the award winning Oasis Aquatic centre that features a 10 lane indoor 25 m pool 10 lane outdoor 50 m pool plus Australia’s first wave ball pool, beach style leisure pool and turbo spa pool.

Wagga will be worth the trip so why not make it an inland escape.
