The International Triathlon Union (ITU) recalls the first year of the Multisport World Championships Festival in Penticton, British Columbia, Canada. This video shows an eclectic assortment of people from all over the world and natural scenery in Penticton. The festival went on for 10 days in August, 2017.

Roughly 3,500 athletes from all over the world competed, more than 2,000 of which came from the USA and Canada. 200 were from Australia, and 335 were from Great Britain. New Zealand and Japan also contributed a large number of athletes with a combined total of about 400.

The sports included duathlon, full distance triathlon, aquathlon, cross triathlon, and age-group only aquabike races. Each sport had multiple categories such as Elite/U23, Junior, and age-groups. There were also para duathlon, para aquabike, and para cross triathlon races.

The ITU hailed the Multisport Festival as a smashing success. Expect it to continue in 2018 on the island of Fyn in Denmark. This year, it will be in July instead of August.
