Abu Dhabi International Triathlon – Australian Results and Video

Josh Rix was one of 7 Australian pros who completed the 2011 Abu Dhabi International Triathlon. There were 14 starters and with the tough conditions and it being one of the first major races for many in 2011 we saw many pull out during the race due to a number of reasons. Overall race times were slower than last year with the winner Frederik Van Lierde finishing almost 7 mins slower than last year when he placed 5th overall.

Abu Dhabi Triathlon Women’s Preview with Caroline Steffen and Christie Sym

The women’s field is headed by Julie Dibens, Leanda Cave and last year’s fastest runner at Abu Dhabi and the runner up in the 2010 Hawaii Ironman World Championship Caroline Steffen. Australian Christie Sym will be hoping to be right up there with these women. Trizone spoke to Steffen and Sym about their thoughts on the race this weekend and what they will be doing next in 2011.

Abu Dhabi International Triathlon has the hottest field outside of the Hawaii Ironman World Championship (or maybe even equal to in the men’s side). This is a who’s who of the top long course athletes in the world. In its second running those who stayed away last year have obviously thought that it is not a one hit wonder and the lure of the prize purse is just too much for most.
