Heat is on for the Kiwis in Ironman 70.3 World Championships

The heat is on literally for Joanna Lawn when she tackles the Ironman 70.3 World Championships in the caldron of Las Vegas on Sunday. Lawn is one of four New Zealand professionals to qualify for the world championship along with veteran Bryan Rhodes, Perth-based Guy Crawford and US-based James Cotter.

Ironman Canada 2011 Pro Start List and Race Preview

2009 Subaru Ironman Canada champion Jordan Rapp, whose injury kept him out of last year’s race, looks to reclaim his title on Sunday, August 28th in the 29th Annual Subaru Ironman Canada triathlon. It will not be an easy task, as last year’s champion, Viktor Zyemtsev, would prefer an ending more in his favour. To add a further twist to the plot, Rapp and Zyemtsev have to contend with 2008 Champion Bryan Rhodes and 2006 Champion Jasper Blake. Also racing is Australia’s Jason Shortis and Paul Attard.

Christie Sym and Madeleine Oldfield 2nd – 3rd at San Francisco Triathlon at Alcatraz

Christie Sym and Madeleine Oldfield have both raced well to place second and third respectively at the San Francisco Triathlon at Alcatraz. Sym was only 35 seconds behind winner Becky Lavelle with Oldfield a further two minutes back. Sym spent the day chasing Lavelle and got very close to her before the race finish eventually beat her. Madeleine Oldfield had the quickest run of the day in the pro field with a 49:03.
