Australia has come from behind to claim a top ten finish in the ITU World Teams Triathlon Championship in Lausanne tonight - finishing seventh in the event that looks almost certain to be included in the 2016 Olympic Games. Their seventh place came after being well back early with Australia's second team of Felicity Abram, Peter Kerr, Felicity Sheedy-Ryan and Mitch Robins finishing in 13th place.

Australian birthday girl Emma Jackson was within touching distance of the perfect present when she finished second in the 2011 Dextro ITU World Triathlon Sprint Championships in Lausanne, Switzerland yesterday. Jackson, who turned 20 yesterday, was edged out of the gold medal by Chile's Barbara Riveros Diaz, finishing just one second behind in a thrilling finish.

In the lead up to this weekend's ITU Dextro Energy Triathlon World Championship round in Hamburg, Australia's National Head Coach Shaun Stephens, runs the microscope over the Australian team's preparations as they continue their march towards the all-important London round on August 6 and 7. The majority of the Australian athletes are in Aix Le Bain in France while the VIS group is in northern Spain under coach Jonno Hall, and Olympic champion Emma Snowsill continues her preparations in Germany.
