Javier Gomez comes back from bike crash to win 2011 Dextro Energy Triathlon ITU World Championship Series Opener in Sydney
Javier Gomez labelled his performance in the opening round of the Dextro Energy Triathlon ITU World Championship Series in Sydney as one of his best-ever, as he fought back from a bike crash to claim an impressive victory. Australia's Brendan Sexton was an impressive 4th after being right in the mix until the last lap on the run.

ITU athletes Lisa Norden, Emma Moffatt, Emma Snowsill, Jan Frodeno, Javier Gomez and Brad Kahlefeldt opened the Dextro Energy Triathlon ITU World Championship Series today at a press conference in Hyde Park, Sydney. All six atheletes are former Olympians, with two gold medals and one bronze medal amongst them. Whilst they all confirmed that they are excited and ready to race they all confirmed that their focus is on London 2012.
It's set to be a show-stopper as almost all of the top 20 triathletes in the world will line up on the starting grid. All but one of the men and women who made up the top-10 in last year's final world rankings are on the start lists in Australia's Harbour City, as well as last year's winners Barbara Riveros Diaz of Chile and Bevan Docherty of New Zealand.

Gomez Scores Back to Back World Championship Series Wins in London. Jonathan Brownlee finishes a surprising second, as older brother Alistair appeared on the brink of passing out at the end, en route to finishing tenth. Javier Gomez, the 2008 ITU World Champion, put on a last lap surge to top Germany's Jan Frodeno in front of a huge crowd in Hamburg for round four of the Dextro Energy Triathlon ITU World Championships Series - Brad Kahlefeldt 6th, Dan Wilson 21st, Dave Dellow 26th, David Matthews 39th, Josh McHugh 42nd, Sam Betten 52nd and Courtney Atkinson DNF.
Brownlee, Gomez, Brukhankov, Spirig and Norden Headline Star-Studded Field in Athlone for ETU European Championship
Europe's top triathletes are headed to Athlone, Ireland this weekend to compete for the title of 2010 European Champion. Athlone, located on the River Shannon in Central Ireland, has hosted an ETU Continental Cup for the past two seasons, alongside Ireland's biggest age-group race. The event will feature a 1.5-km swim in the River Shannon, followed by a flat, fast and technical 40-km ride and a 10-km run through the medieval city.
