Javier Gomez labelled his performance in the opening round of the Dextro Energy Triathlon ITU World Championship Series in Sydney as one of his best-ever, as he fought back from a bike crash to claim an impressive victory. ITU athletes Lisa Norden, Emma Moffatt, Emma Snowsill, Jan Frodeno, Javier Gomez and Brad Kahlefeldt opened the Dextro Energy Triathlon ITU World Championship Series today at a press conference in Hyde Park, Sydney. All six atheletes are former Olympians, with two gold medals and one bronze medal amongst them. Whilst they all confirmed that they are excited and ready to race they all confirmed that their focus is on London 2012.

World’s best in Sydney to kick-off 2011 Dextro Energy Triathlon ITU World Championship Series

It's set to be a show-stopper as almost all of the top 20 triathletes in the world will line up on the starting grid. All but one of the men and women who made up the top-10 in last year's final world rankings are on the start lists in Australia's Harbour City, as well as last year's winners Barbara Riveros Diaz of Chile and Bevan Docherty of New Zealand.

Brownlee, Gomez, Brukhankov, Spirig and Norden Headline Star-Studded Field in Athlone for ETU European Championship

Europe's top triathletes are headed to Athlone, Ireland this weekend to compete for the title of 2010 European Champion. Athlone, located on the River Shannon in Central Ireland, has hosted an ETU Continental Cup for the past two seasons, alongside Ireland's biggest age-group race. The event will feature a 1.5-km swim in the River Shannon, followed by a flat, fast and technical 40-km ride and a 10-km run through the medieval city.
