Cameron Brown and Joanna Lawn warm up for Tauranga Half Ironman with Impressive Performances at Whangamata Olympic Distance Triathlon

Cameron Brown turned back the clock twenty years after winning his first triathlon in senior company to once again claim the Whangamata round of the Contact Tri Series. Joanna Lawn put in a great performance but was just edged out for first place by 19 year old Rebecca Kingsford. The women’s race was a fascinating duel with Kingsford, Teresa Adam, Jo Lawn and Maddy Brunton in the thick of it all day.

New Zealand Triathletes offered free membership to Tri NZ

In an unprecedented step Triathlon New Zealand has removed all barriers to becoming a member of the countries triathlon association. 2010/2011 membership is now free to all New Zealand triathletes. Tri NZ is an innovative sports body. They have a regular weekly TV show, a radio show, a number of large corporate sponsors and a very strong community of athletes. In 2009 they had a participant database of 80,000 people.
