As expected Andy Potts and Pete Jacobs lead the 2011 Ford Ironman World Championship at Kona, Hawaii.

Potts has put a small gap on Pete Jacobs with a chase pack a small distance back to the chase pack which includes Australian Luke McKenzie.

Amanda Stevens, Julie Dibens and Lucie Zelenkova lead the women and are swimming with the top guys.

It looked like Pete Jacobs was slowing slightly but now he has settled in to his own pace and will not want to let the guys catch him. Pete is determined to get out of the water with a gap on Craig Alexander. Jacobs may get caught by the chase pack though as the top contenders will not want to let him get anytime advantage.

Jacobs may now have been swallowed by the chase pack.

There is going to be an outgoing tide for the return swim so it will be interesting to see how this affects the weaker swimmers.
