Australian elite triathletes aim to kick off their season on a high note at the World Triathlon Championships Series Season Opener in Abu Dhabi.

Top Australian triathletes, including Matthew Hauser, Natalie Van Coevorden, Emma Jackson, Jake Birtwhistle, Jaz Hedgeland, Charlotte McShane, Luke Willian, Brandon Copeland, and Kira Hedgeland, will compete in the World Triathlon Championships Series Season Opener on March 3, 2023, at the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi.

The event will see fierce competition from around the world, with athletes competing for Olympic points and the coveted Series Gold.

Hauser, ranked seventh globally, will be aiming to build on his successful 2022 season, which saw him earn his first WTCS podium and Commonwealth Games bronze medal, while Van Coevorden, ranked 22nd, will look to replicate the success of the five athletes in the women’s field who have previously won medals in Abu Dhabi on the Formula 1 track.
