Dr. Mitchell Anderson Breaks 24-Hour Outdoor Cycling World Record
42-year-old Mitchell “Mitch” Anderson of West Melbourne, Australia, broke the world record in 24-hour outdoor track cycling distance this past weekend. 42-year-old Mitchell “Mitch” Anderson of West Melbourne, Australia, broke the world record in 24-hour outdoor track cycling distance this past weekend. The cyclist and former professional triathlete clocked 894.35km at the Australia Automotive Research Centre in Wensleydale. Victoria. The average speed was just above 37km/h. Slovenia’s Marko Bahloh set the previous record in 2008, covering roughly 890km.
The UltraMarathon Cycling Association is expected to certify the new record.
Dr. Anderson’s obstacles included cold weather, nausea, and vomiting. His support team responded with nutritional assistance and encouragement.
Dr. Anderson also broke the 12-hour world record last year, covering 491km and beating Bahloh’s previous world record.
The former professional triathlete is well-known for his bike performances. He won Ironman Western Australia in 2005. He also set new bike course records at Ironman Australia, Ironman Western Australia, Ironman Japan, and Ironman 70.3 Geelong. He currently works as a physiotherapist and sports doctor.
