Elite Energy releases ULTIMATE triathlon in Australia

Many of Australia’s triathletes have a long held affection for the Jervis Bay Multisport Festival or as it is usually referred to ‘Husky’. Elite Energy have been putting this weekend together for a long time now and it has a feel all of its own. It is definitely a favourite for all that go there to enjoy a weekend away in one of the most idyllic settings. Emmo and his team seem to be able to create a relaxed and fun atmosphere that is unique to their events.

Last year they introduced the ‘triseries’ which was held in 7 locations throughout the summer and with most weekends having an Olympic distance triathlon, a sprint distance, an enticer, a miniman for the kids plus and ocean swim and a run. A race for everyone.

In the 2011/2012 upcoming season Elite Energy are stepping things up and introducing three ‘ULTIMATE’ triathlons. These race distances will be 2km/120km/20km. The idea behind this is not to favour cyclists and weaker swimmers but to provide triathletes with a challenging race without the pressure the body faces with a marathon run to deal with. The hope is that Australia’s triathletes will see this as a challenge and depending on timing a good lead up event to any iron distance races they are planning on doing.

These ULTIMATE triathlons will have a weekend multisport festival around them with races for everyone.

Their goal is to introduce innovative race formats with a total focus on athlete satisfaction whilst enhancing the experience for spectators, family & friends of competitors.

The ULTIMATE series kicks off on the hallowed grounds of Forster with places filling fast after the June 1 launch.

Forster is without doubt one of the world’s most loved and famous long distance triathlon destinations and Ultimate’s 2km/120km/20km format will take in much of the course that Ironman Australia used to race on.

One out of the blue is the Wagga Wagga ULTIMATE triathlon. This race will feature an 11am Saturday start time culminating in a massive twilight finish party on the shores of Lake Albert. The new schedule has been implemented to allow travelling competitors plenty of time to arrive relaxed and get back home after the event.

The city of Wagga Wagga is getting behind this event and with what Elite Energy has planned this weekend could, overtime, become one of the great desitnation triathlons on the calendar.

Wagga Wagga is a comfortable drive from Sydney the travel time of 4 ½ hours is equivalent to the trip up to Port Macquarie. Victorians also have reason to celebrate as Wagga Wagga is also a manageable 4 ½ hours from Melbourne.

NSW largest inland city maybe a secret to those who have not visited the area but you will discover what the locals love about this amazing inland destination.

Great restaurants and cafes, clean crisp environment, multiple accommodation options, brilliantly supportive local government involvement that will facilitate the development of a major festival along with a picturesque and challenging race course.

Another extension to this new ULTIMATE triathlon series and after the overwhelming success of the Batemans Bay festival in April this year ULTIMATE III is set to take over the shores and streets of this beautiful coastal location. Batemans Bay has all the ingredients that Elite Energy is confident will see the ULTIMATE triathlon a hit with the triathlon community.
