Ironman China is being held on Sunday, 14th March 2010. This triathlon has become known as the toughest Ironman on the calendar and as a result of this year, a number of elite triathletes who have already received an entry into the 2010 Ironman World Championship in Hawaii have opted not to compete in China. Instead, they have headed for the UAE and are competing in the Abu Dhabi International Triathlon. This race has been designed to provide triathletes with a challenging triathlon that does not have the longer recovery time required after racing an Ironman. The run is only 20km instead of a marathon however the bike leg is 200kms. 20kms longer than an Ironman bike leg.
This year there are 19 Australians competing in China including four male elite triathletes. Chris Mccormack is being touted as the race favourite however he may find the heat and humidity challenging.
