Leon Griffin gets fitted to his bike by FIST and focuses on half Iron distance racing

Leon Griffin was recently in LA from his US home base in Boulder in order to work on optimising his bike fit prior to the start of the upcoming season.
Last year was his first full season back on the race circuit after quitting his comfortable finance job back in his native Bendigo, Australia. He had some good indicators of sharp form with successful outings including a runner-up finish to Jesse Thomas at Wildflower, a sprint finish win at Rev3 Maine and a 7th place at Ironman 70.3 Worlds in Las Vegas.
The former duathlon world champ has been dabbling in Iron distance racing in the last couple of years and has decided to shelve his Ironman ambitions for a year to concentrate on the Ironman 70.3 circuit (he currently sits 5th in the overall 70.3 rankings) as well as the Rev3 Series (he currently sits 4th in the standings). I remember sitting next to Leon at the finishline straight after his first Ironman at Port Maquarie, Australia and remember him saying ‘never again’ only to see him crossing the finishline at Ironman Cairns a month later. Like any competitive athlete Leon found it hard to take the feeling of defeat and raced a couple more Ironman triathlons to attempt to conquer them at the level he is used to.
It will be exciting to see what he can do with this new focus and also some help from some very experienced people.
In an effort to leave no stone unturned, he visited Dan Empfield who was conducting a FIST workshop for bike fitters at his ranch as well as put his position and equipment to test on the velodrome with Jim Manton at Ero-Sports and ALPHAMANTIS.
