Many Australian and Kiwi Pro Triathletes Racing today in the USA

There are four races yet to take place in the USA this weekend and there are many Australian and New Zealand pros racing.

In the Texas Ironman 70.3 Buffalo Springs Lake, Luke Bell goes up against inform Clayton Fettell who would have to be the favourite based on his recent ‘2 from 2’ form. Ollie Whistler is also racing and will be hoping to stay on his bike and not have any mechanicals. Bell has his ‘usual’ season planned with Ironman New York and the Ironman World Championship to come with a few 70.3s thrown in. Fettell has won his last two 70.3 races in the US. Both Mooseman and Kansas were Clayton’s races from start to finish. Areomax teammate of Clayton Fettell, Rachael Paxton is down to race as well.

Terenzo Bozzone is back racing after a rather frustrating last year and a bit due to injuries. With Terenzo are fellow Kiwis James and Mark Bowstead. James went well at Eagleman 70.3 recently with Mark being off the pace. At the Hawaii 70.3 they finished 7th and 8th with James run being the difference.

Guy Crawford and Bryan Rhodes are both racing Ironman Coeur D’Alene with Kate Bevilaqua (IMWA 2010 winner), Christie Sym and Amanda McKenzie racing also. Rhodes did not finish Ironman Cairns and Crawford had a good hit out recently at Hawaii 70.3 where he raced against Lance Armstrong.

Pete Jacobs, Paul Ambrose, Josh Rix and Joe Gambles go up against each other at Ironman 70.3 Syracuse. Kiwis Graham O’Grady and Callum Millward (of the tied Boise 70.3 fame). Nikki Butterfield and Julia Grant are racing in the women’s field. Butterfield won this year’s Abu Dhabi International Triathlon and was 3rd at Boise 70.3 recently.

At the New Orleans 5150 we will see New Zealand’s Anna Cleaver back racing again after a long layoff due to injury. The ex New Zealand swimming champion and 2010 Port Macquarie half ironman has been training under coach Siri Lindley and is looking forward to making her comeback. Lisa Marangon is also racing and will be hoping for a good race after her recent 6th at Boise 70.3 and a win at Boulder last weekend.

Tim Reed and Michael Fox are both racing New Orleans. Reed has unfinished business in the 5150 series after racing well in the series last year only to come down with a flu from hell the week before Hy-Vee and only managed a 24th. Fox has embarked on a USA race season to build his experience.
