Patrick Lange Targets Victory at Mainova Ironman European Championship Frankfurt Amid Ironman Pro Series Announcement

Frankfurt, Germany is buzzing with anticipation as two-time Ironman World Champion Patrick Lange sets his sights on a coveted victory at the Mainova Ironman European Championship, scheduled for August 18, 2024. Known for being the fastest marathon runner in the Ironman circuit, Lange is eager to claim a win on the iconic Frankfurt course, a title that has eluded him despite his impressive achievements.

“I can’t wait to race there in front of my home crowd. It’s going to be a super, super important race for me personally.”

In addition to targeting victory in Frankfurt, Lange has committed to participating in the newly established Ironman Pro Series, a competitive series spanning 12 months across 18 designated Ironman and Ironman 70.3 events. His schedule includes competing at 70.3 Oceanside, the Ironman North American Champs in Texas, and culminating in then the World Champs in Kailua-Kona, Hawai'i.

Lange’s ambition is fueled by his recent second-place finish at the 2023 Ironman World Championship in Nice, France, solidifying his status as a formidable contender and intensifying his desire for further victories.

Despite his dominant performances and the title of fastest runner on the circuit, the Frankfurt championship is a significant accolade missing from his collection. Previous attempts saw him finish behind triathlon legends Sebastian Kienle and Jan Frodeno, with a notable 3rd place finish in 2018.

Oliver Schiek, Regional Director DACH, shared his excitement for Lange's return, stating,

"Frankfurt is electric with anticipation for Patrick's return! Having a two-time IRONMAN World Champion like him chasing unfinished business on our course elevates the entire race to another level. It's going to be an epic battle."
