Professional triathletes Sam Long and Fenella Langridge have both won a US$25k bonus at the end of the 2022 season, after winning the Challenge Family Pro Athlete World Bonus. The final points scoring race took place at Clash Daytona on Friday.

Throughout the season, 194 professional athletes collected points for the Challenge Family Pro Athlete World Bonus and a share of the US$125k end-of-season payout.

In an interview, Langridge said that she was not initially planning on going after the World Bonus, but that she ended up doing so through her passion for Challenge events. She said that she felt that when she enjoyed a race, she performed her best, and that the Challenge Family events brought out the best in her. She also said that the competition in the women's field was getting stronger and stronger, making it an honor to be number one.

Long, on the other hand, said that winning the World Bonus was one of his main goals for the season. He also mentioned the beautiful locations and hospitality he experienced while chasing the title.

The Challenge Family Pro Athlete World Bonus initiative was established to provide professional athletes with the opportunity to race for a share of a US$125k end-of-season bonus, as well as the prize purse at races. The World Bonus pays out to the top five ranked pros, with the top-ranked pro taking home $25k, second place earning $16.5k, third place winning $12k, fourth place winning $6k, and fifth place winning $3k. Ranking is determined through a points system based on placings earned at the athletes' six best performances at Challenge Family races during the season, of which no more than one can be a long distance race.
