Entries to the 2011 Dextro Energy Triathlon to be held in Sydney in April 2011 will go on sale on Monday September 13th, but there is a catch.
Triathlon Australia sent a communication to all it’s members advising them of the opportunity to enter the hugely anticipated event, however to do so you must be a current member of Triathlon Australia, and must also sign up for the other two events in the Australian Triathlon Championship, to be held at Geelong in February and Mooloolaba in March. Entry for all three events will cost $525.
Organisers told Trizone that this had been done not to try and force athletes into having to enter all three races, but to ensure those athletes who wanted to enter all three races and earn points for World Championship team qualification could be asssured of spots in the races.
The 2011 Sydney event, following on from the huge success of the Dextro Energy Triathlon ITU World Championship race held over the iconic Opera House course in April of this year will feature both an elite and age group race (this year was just for elites). Huge demand is expected for this event, and it could well see a repeat of the Noosa experience where spots went within hours of opening, and many athletes were simply unable to log on to try and register.
Traditionally demand is also high for Mooloolaba, and this could also sell out quickly. Entry to individual events will open up in October, and non Triathlon Australia members will also be able to enter at this time.
