Whether you are a serious athlete looking to secure a qualification spot for the 2013 XTERRA World Championships in Hawaii, or someone who wants the kudos of winning an XTERRA event, or a weekend runner who is tired of competing on the same old running tracks – XTERRA Great Ocean Road has something for you. With long and short courses in the triathlon event and 10km and half marathon trail run events, XTERRA Great Ocean Road will be sure to give you the challenge you are looking for.
And, the XTERRA team are excited to announce Ben Allen as the Great Ocean Road race ambassador. Many of you will know Ben from the Australian surf lifesaving and triathlon circuit. His results speak for themselves, with several top 10 finished in 70.3 events around the world and a string of podium finishes on the XTERRA circuit around the world, including a first in Guam, Philippines, Saipan, NZ, Brazil and being crowned the XTERRA Asian triple crown champion. Ben has been working with the XTERRA team on designing the course in Anglesea and after his recent ride described the course as an “endless single track, with technical tight turns and fast rocky descents.” He went on to note that “the course has a great mixture of variety to suit all abilities. From the Pro’s to the weekend Warrior XTERRA Australia is going to be a “Fair Dinkum” race.!”
The XTERRA series is a global off road series with close to 200 events annually. With an events calendar made up of trail runs, triathlons, off-road duathlons, swims, mountain biking, and winter sports, the American lifestyle and sports brand holds several events across the United States as part of the Series, and has recently extended its offerings into the New Zealand, Japan, Italy, France, Brazil, Philippines, Switzerland and Australian markets.
