The Xterra Asia-Pacific Championship returns to Taiwan on 23 March, marking an exciting time for the Xterra APAC Tour and standing as the first event in the Xterra World Cup series. With a substantial elite prize purse of $25,000, the Full Distance Race is set to ignite intense rivalry and declare the 2024 Xterra Asia-Pacific Champion.
Spotlight on the Elites
The championship draws a diverse and talented group of pros aiming for the top. Among them, Kieran McPherson of New Zealand, the 2023 Asia-Pacific Champion, returns with a focus on strategic performance throughout the season. Australian triathlete Ben Allen (and my man crush!), known for his strong finishes in previous years, draws inspiration from his support network and aims to excel in this year’s tour.
Local standout Yen Ching Chiang, who secured a victory at Xterra Taiwan in 2022, and Takehiro Irokawa from Japan, stepping into the elite category with a well-rounded preparation, are among the competitors to watch.
In the women's competition, Hannah Lee Young from Australia looks to leverage her previous international success will be aiming for the Asia-Pacific title. Cheri Cho of Hong Kong steps into her first Xterra competition.
