What should be a time to celebrate all your hard work and endeavours has unfortunately come to an abrupt holt for Dave Hayes during Sunday’s event in Cairns. Dave was a Brisbane-based pilot for Jetstar.
We understand that he encountered difficulties during the 1.9 km swim portion of the race.
We are deeply saddened to confirm the death of one of our athletes at the Ironman 70.3 Cairns triathlon. We thank the swim safety and emergency services personnel for their response to provide the athlete with medical support. Our condolences go out to the athlete’s family and friends, whom we will continue to support during this difficult time.Ironman
