Trizone has tipped Laura Philipp to finish in the top five in the Ironman 70.3 World Championships in Chattanooga next weekend. We caught up with the German athlete to discuss milestones, X-terra and her preparation for the big race.
Philipps is excited to battle the best
“I’m really happy about my season so far,” said Laura. “I’m in great shape and had my best year until now.” After an impressive season, Laura is ready for the world-class event at Chattanooga next weekend. “I’m really looking forward to competing against the world’s best 70.3 athletes. I think if we are going to have a fair bike part, then my chances aren’t bad at being able to be somewhere near the front.”

Trizone agrees, Philipp is tipped to come finish in the top five for sure. “I know that we have one of the strongest pro fields ever, and claiming a top 10 spot will be really really hard,” said Laura modestly, “but I am ready to give it my all.”
Winning St Moritz Ironman 70.3 great preparation for Chattanooga
After a stellar performance in St Moritz Ironman 70.3, Philipp is feeling good. “Winning races always gives you confidence and a good feeling about your fitness. But of course I always know that the field at Chattanooga will be much deeper and it will be a lot harder to grab one of the top spots,” said Laura.
Not only was winning the event in St Moritz great for Philipp’s confidence, but she also trains there. “It’s a great place for training,” said Laura, “you have the altitude and really beautiful training routes. Both helped increase my fitness level a lot.”
Free from injury throughout the entire season, Laura Philipp celebrated a milestone this year that would be perfectly complemented by a great finish at the world championships. “Winning the world championships would be really nice and sweeten the feeling of being 30,” laughed Laura.
With a fierce year behind her and so many people backing her for a top spot, it’s clear Laura Philipp is in with a top chance next weekend. Now we’ll just have to wait and see.
