Round two of the Queensland Gatorade Series was held today, on the beautiful Sunshine Coast of Queensland Australia, in Kawana Waters. Daniel Coleman won the men’s open division, whilst Brittany Dutton took out the women’s race.
19 year old Daniel Coleman, an Australian junior elite triathlete, coached by Craig Walton, exited the water in the lead pack of swimmers, led by eventual third place getter Matthew Roberts. A small group of four men, including runner up Charlie Quin, rode together, but onto the run Coleman proved too fast to run away with the victory. Charlie Quin finished second, with Matthew Roberts a close third, only four seconds back of Quin.

In the women’s race, youth Olympian, and 3 x Australian under 19 triathlon champion, Brittany Dutton, entered transition one 15 seconds down on eventual runner up Kelly-Ann Perkins. In what proved to be a tight battle, Dutton chased and caught Perkins, with the pair arriving back to transition together to commence the run. Dutton however won the foot battle, albeit by a mere 5 seconds, to claim final victory over Perkins. Jaz Hedgeland rounded out the top three for the women’s podium.
