Race 1 of the Gatorade Triathlon Series 2011/12 at Catani Gardens in St Kilda on Sunday 20th November 2011, is on track to be a hotly contested race.
Defending series champion Madeleine Oldfield, will be back to defend her title against a host of in-form talent “the event’s biggest pro field for a series opener. Brendan Sexton will be starting his Gatorade campaign and defending his series title from last year. With impressive wins in Monterrey, London and New Zealand, Brendan ‘Kung-Fu’ Sexton is a serious player to look out for this season in his lead up to his 2012 London Olympic team campaign.
Brendan will join the Series from Race 2 at Elwood on December 11. Amongst the elite field is Luke Bell who will be present at Race 1 and is excited to race the Series opener as well
as most of the Series. Peter Kerr, Craig McKenzie and Madeleine Oldfield will also head up the competitive elite race at St Kilda on Sunday! Peter Kerr who raced for the Australian team in the ITU World Sprint Championships and Madeleine should start as race favourites. The Series will see the return of regulars like Adam Beckworth, Erin Densham and Melissa Burgoyne. ITU Junior Joel Tobin-White is also someone to look out for this season with
consistent performances and solid running in the past few months.
The Active Feet Fun Tri, held in conjunction with the Gatorade Triathlon Series, is set for a record field of beginners and social competitors taking on the short course and making a start in triathlons.
