In tough conditions Carrie Lester has won her first Ironman in 9:23:46. Lester put in a fast bike leg to to exit T2 almost four minutes ahead of Lisa Marangon and was never troubled by any of the professional women in the run. Rebekah Keat finished in second place almost ten minutes further back in 9:33:10. Amelia Pearson did a solid 3:32:44 marathoon to finish in third place in 9:46:09.
Lester recently raced in the inaugral Abu Dhabi International Triathlon and placed 5th overall in the women’s division and won the 2010 Huskisson Austalian Long Course Championship convincingly.
This is the first marathon that Lester has run and she showed what a class athlete she is.
