In what is arguably the hottest female field to be assembled at Kurnell  in a long time former Ironman World Champion, Olympic silver medallist and two times ITU world champion Michellie Jones, current world ITU No.3 Lisa Norden, Lisa Marangon, Matilda Raynolds, Anel Stewart and up and coming age grouper Laura Siddall will be racing for overall honours on Sunday.

Sweden’s Lisa Norden had a year highlight when she was crowned the ITU Sprint World Champion in 2010. A close second must have been when she out-sprinted our own Emma Moffatt in the Hamburg round of the Dextro Energy Triathlon ITU World Championship series and rounded the year of with 3rd overall in the championship.

Lisa Marangon, Anel Stewart and Matilda Raynolds have all just come back from racing in Geelong last weekend. Lisa and Anel raced in the Australia Sprint Championship and Matilda won the Olympic distance race. Anel is getting back to her best after a tough last 18 months and Lisa is just starting out in the world of Olympic and short distance racing after having focused on long distance triathlons to date.

In Geelong Marangon and Anel were strong in the swim and bike but were slightly off the pace on the run.

Michellie Jones told Trizone today that she is racing Kurnell to see where her winter training is at “I was just looking for a sprint race to see where it is at and Kurnell is the perfect distance for that. It has been a long time since I did Kurnell so I am looking forward to it.
