SuperSprint Events are excited to launch the Gatorade Triathlon Series
2011/12, incorporating the Active Feet Fun Tri Series.  We are pleased
to announce a new race to the Series at Brighton and a Long Course event
at Portarlington.  Both series provide a fun and challenging event for
first timers through to seasoned age groupers and an elite field of
world class athletes.

We welcome on board our new sponsors Giant and Shotz, and thank Gatorade, Active Feet, Garmin, Brooks, 2XU, Herald Sun and Triathlon & MultiSport Magazine for their ongoing association.  Phil Wrochna from firstoffthebike.com will once again be the voice and commentator for the series.

With last year’s blockbuster season producing some excellent racing,
with plenty of down to the wire finishes. Brendan Sexton and Madeline
Oldfield won the 2010/11 Series and both are now racing overseas, with
Brendan winning a World Cup race and is favoured to win a spot in the
Australian Olympic Team.

The team’s camaraderie and enthusiasm were undoubtedly at an all-time
high. The Gatorade Triathlon Series is Victoria’s premier triathlon
series. The seven race series spans from November to April and provides a
demanding and enjoyable environment for first time triathletes through
to competitive age group racers and the nation’s elite. New for this
season is the addition of an Open category, which
will no doubt see some great racing from the age group athletes. The
2011/12 series will once again feature Victoria’s best venues and
courses, the highest quality event organisation and unbelievable prizes
and promotions from our gracious event sponsors.

The Melbourne Triathlon – Race 45th February 2012
–  Victoria’s most popular Olympic Distance event will host the
Victorian Olympic Distance Championship. With the venue being set on
Trevor Barker Oval, participants set out on a 1500m swim, followed by a
40km ride and finish with a 10km run. All competitors will receive a 2XU
Gatorade Triathlon Series Race Singlet (RRP$70) and the race is limited
to 1,000 entrants.  Individual entrants that enter prior to Race 1 can
collect the 2XU Race Singlet at Race 1.  The sprint distance event
caters to competitors who race over a 750m swim, a 20km ride and a 5km
run.

The Portarlington Long Course Triathlon – Race 6 – 18th March 2012 –
The iconic Portarlington event will this year host a new Long Course
Triathlon, which will be limited to 300 competitors.  Series entrants
will have the opportunity to take up these spots.  The event will
consist of a 2km swim, 80km cycle and 20km run.  Run in conjunction with
the 26th Annual Gatorade Portarlington Triathlon, the Long Course format is a great test for those triathletes wanting to really push themselves to the next level.

St.Kilda Triathlon – Race 7 – 1st April 2012 –  Race
7 of the Gatorade Triathlon Series takes participants to the unofficial “home” of Triathlon’s in Victoria.  Established in 1991 by SuperSprint Events (then promotions), Catani Gardens has seen many competitors race, and was even the site for the 2006 Melbourne Commonwealth Games Triathlon.  This is one of the most highly participated events of the
series.
