Australian’s Paul Ambrose and Chris McDonald are the racing Ironman Louisville this weekend. Ambrose is back to defend the title he won last year. Ambrose has had a good year so far with a win at Racine 70.3 in July, a second the week before at Rhode Island 70.3 and fourth at Boise 70.3 in June. McDonald had a fifth at Rev3 Portland in July and a 4th at the recent Lake Stevens 70.3 (No swim, bike TT and 21.1km run) with a very fast 1:14 run. If he has got his run to this level this year then he should go well.

Amanda McKenzie (nee Balding) is also racing her first ironman since IM Brazil in May. Amanda broke two ribs in an accident on her bike in March this year and Brazil was a tentative step back in to racing. McKenzie finished in 10:39 and was happy with many things about that race. This will be McKenzie’s first real test now she is back to a level of race fitness she is used to.
