Melissa Rollison racing in the 2012 Nepean Triathlon Super Sprint

There are a number of Australia’s top long distance pros racing at Falls Creek including newly crowned World Ironman 70.3 champion Melissa Rolisson. Coming from an extremely successful running background, there is only one way to describe Melissa Rollinson’s running prowess – amazing. After taking out the 70.3 Ironman World Championships in Las Vegas, Nevada – Melissa set the Noosa and Nepean triathlons alight with a blistering course record in the latter. If you haven’t been following Trizone over the last year and a half you may not know that Melissa Rollison is a Commonwealth Games Silver medalist. Rollison won Silver in 2006 in the 3000 meter Steeplechase.

A sensational elite field are assembling with Joe Gambles, Tim Reed, the latest to join Luke Bell, Jan Rehula, Mitch Anderson, Bill Scanlan, Sam Hume and Madeleine Oldfield and a host of others also racing for the alpine long course crown.

This extraordinary long course triathlon will once again be the host of the Victorian Long Course Championships, coupled with the Australian Long Course Championships and it is an absolute must for your Multi Sport calendar. Entries at our inaugural event last year poured in at a very rapid pace, as participants geared up for what was being classified as a gruelling but extremely rewarding event. A prize pool of $10,000 will be up for grabs this year once again as participants’ battle their way through one of Australia’s most scenic triathlons, over the 2km swim, 80km cycle, and 20km trail run.

Falls Creek is a testament to perfect racing conditions, with perfect summer weather for the event this year.

Accommodation bookings are rapidly filling up as a number of athletes are choosing to have a weeks’ holiday there, a brilliant idea- as it is a fantastic holiday and altitude training destination!
