Wahoo Kickr – Will this iPhone powered indoor trainer be the most sort after product for triathletes?

Possibly one of the most highly anticipated product in years. The new Wahoo Kickr brings training with power to the masses with the AUD$1299 indoor trainer. The unit is controlled by your iPhone/iPad and regulates the power delivered to your pedals. This means there is nowhere to hide. If you slack off the resistance increases, if you increase your cadence the resistance decreases to maintain your desired wattage.

World Champion age group triathlete and previous top 3 Ironman Australia finisher Mel Cockshutt is promoting the product in Australia. Her brother Murray, based in Brisbane, has been the brains behind the software.

We will be putting a test unit through its paces over the next 6 weeks. We will have a range of athletes testing it out and will let you know what we think of it.

There are 250 units coming into Australia in about 4-5 weeks and this weekend in Port Macquarie they have apparently had 40 units reserved.
