Australia’s fastest growing sports nutrition company, Science in Sport Australia (SiS), has teamed up with Baymin Group P/L, headed up by Gareth Pike ex-CEO of Gloria Jean’s Coffees, in a joint venture partnership set to accelerate expansion plans and fuel business growth.

The joint venture partnership will inject more resources into the business to support its continued growth across Australia and New Zealand.

SiS is best known for its innovative range of energizing, hydration and recovery nutrition products and was a world first in developing an isotonic gel, the SiS Go Gel.

Michael O’Hara, SiS Director, said the significant partnership marks an exciting time in the business’ lifecycle and is designed to accelerate the growth and development of the brand, particularly its online capabilities and the expansion of its core accessories line and event participation.

“This joint venture partnership is an important step to strengthen our position in the Australian and New Zealand market and will enable us to offer the best and most progressive sports nutrition products to more customers, including a range of new performance gels, as well boost our presence at key sporting events and our support of local athletes,” said O’Hara.

“The business has been growing rapidly here in Australia and we are now positioned for growth into other markets with more product lines, and Gareth, with his expertise and experience in retail, operations and marketing, is perfectly placed to help us achieve this.”

Pike has more than 20 years experience in consumer-driven industries. Most of his experience has been gained at senior and executive management levels across leading, global companies including McDonalds, Starbucks and Gloria Jeans Coffees.

“SiS is a truly innovative company, and I’m thrilled to be part of it,” said Pike.

“There are few, if any, global sports nutrition brands more respected than SIS, and I am proud to align with them on this new venture and build on the great foundations that Michael and the team have built here in Australia.

Pike took over as Managing Director of SiS Australia in April 2013.
