Just under 4,000 slots to the world’s largest long distance triathlon, DATEV Challenge Roth, have sold out in record time. When entries opened at 10.00am CET on Monday, the relay teams sold out in just 50 seconds. Spots for German individual athletes were next to sell out in 2:09 minutes while the places reserved for international individual athletes went in 3:15 minutes.

Challenge Family CEO, Felix Walchshfer, said the response to the 2014 event firmly consolidated Challenge Roth’s position as the world’s greatest long distance triathlon.

No other race has sold this many slots in just 3:15 minutes, we’re truly humbled by the passion triathletes have for Challenge Roth and thank everyone for their support,” he said. We also appreciate that there are many disappointed athletes who weren’t successful, and we’re so sorry for this. However, we hope everyone understands that we aren’t able to make more places available as we will not compromise on quality by overcrowding.

The DATEV Challenge Roth web site had over 34,000 unique visits generating 98,865 hits when entries opened. The countries with the largest growth over 2013 are USA and Ireland with 65 nations in total represented.

There is still one last opportunity to secure a coveted spot to Challenge Roth on 6 December as part of the annual Christmas Charity Fundraiser.
