Abu Dhabi Triathlon Team is making a contribution to help Pakistan after the disastrous impact of the flood catastrophe earlier this summer. The Team feels a connection with Pakistan: more than 750.000 Pakistanis live and work in the United Arab Emirates.
The entire Abu Dhabi Triathlon Team from athletes to the Team doctor, the physiotherapist and the manager support this effort to raise money for this incredibly important cause and offer their services as part of the auction. The chance to bid for a day training with Pete is open to everyone: individuals, schools, companies, clubs or even a group of friends who fancy a day of group training.
This is an opportunity to spend a training workout with Pete Jacobs. Pete is one of the best Ironman swimmers worldwide but also at the other disciplines there are not many athletes who can beat him. He showed that in an impressive way at the Ironman World Championships 2009 as he placed 8th overall. Just recently he won his first Ironman 70.3 title on the Philippines.
So, what do you get if you purchase a training day by auction?
You will get a training workout (either swimming, cycling or running / round about 2 hours) with Pete Jacobs. He will train with you, offer you tips he has picked up and he will be more than happy to try and answer all your questions. The training workout will take place close to his home city: Sydney, Australia at a time convenient to both parties and will be arranged as soon as the bidding has closed and the purchaser is known. If you would like the training workout to take place at some other location do send an enquiry into the Ebay site as there could be some flexibility on this! If you would prefer, Pete can provide a talk or speech about triathlon related topics.
Where does the money go?
The money raised will be given to the Kaghan Memorial Trust. Faris Al-Sultan, who came up with this idea, did a charity bike race in 2007 in favour of a school project in Islamabad of that organization. From his past experiences of working with KMT he is confident that the money will be used effectively by the charity and for the correct purposes. At the moment the Kaghan Memorial Trust together with another aid organization supports 250 families. These families lost everything in the floods, and without the help of these charities would not even have food. Both organizations try to keep up the supply for the next months until the situation has stabilized.
Additional benefit
Abu Dhabi Triathlon Team will double the revenue of the auction because the team wants to participate with funds not just only with services.
