USA Triathlon Foundation Now Accepting 2019 Grant Applications

The USA Triathlon Foundation today announced that it is accepting grant applications from the triathlon community for 2019. Individuals and organizations who wish to apply for a USA Triathlon Foundation Pillar Grant may do so at usatriathlonfoundation.org. All proposals are due by March 22, and the USA Triathlon Foundation Trustees will make selections by April 12.

The USA Triathlon Foundation awards funding to organizations and individuals that support multisport opportunities for youth, paratriathletes and Olympic hopefuls. Since its inception in 2014, the Foundation — in partnership with USA Triathlon — has provided more than $2.4 million in grant funding opportunities. Grant recipients, in turn, help advance the Foundation’s mission of opening pathways to triathlon for all. To view the full list of 2018 grant awardees.

“Each year, the USA Triathlon Foundation looks forward to supporting incredible organizations that transform lives through triathlon,” said John Cassimatis, President of the USA Triathlon Foundation Board of Trustees and Grant Chair. “We have been able to award meaningful funding over the past four years to deserving youth, paratriathletes and Olympic hopefuls, and we are proud to continue that tradition in 2019.”

“It is through the generosity of our athletes and donors that the Foundation is able to provide this give back to organizations and individuals that support our mission and vision,” said Dave Deschenes, Executive Director of the USA Triathlon Foundation. “Triathlon and the multisport lifestyle have played such an important role in many of our athletes’ and donors’ lives that they are now passionate about giving back to the sport. We are proud to direct their donations to these worthy recipients.”

In addition to the Pillar Grants, the USA Triathlon Foundation will partner with the Dawson family to offer the Bridget Inspires Grant in memory of Bridget Dawson. Bridget was an accomplished age-group athlete and member of Team USA who passed away in 2016. The Bridget Inspires Grant will provide funding to young women pursuing competitive success in triathlon and other multisport endeavours during the 2019 competition year and beyond.

“Bridget was a world-class triathlete, admired by many in the community, and a huge influence in the growing sport,” said Whitney Dawson, Bridget’s daughter. “The word ‘inspiring’ has been most commonly used by those describing Bridget since her passing, and the goal of this endowment is to extend her inspiration beyond her achievements and coaching. Bridget raced with grace, confidence, strength and a quiet fierceness that made her a champion in the sport, as well as a mentor and friend to the entire community. Her drive and vitality will live through the young women who will be supported by this fund to pursue their athletic goals.”
