Craig Alexander has won the 2011 70.3 world championship. As predicated last week Alexander showed the world what a class act he is. He didn’t have things all his own way however after being over a minute down on Andy Potts out of the swim and then getting a puncture and loosing four minutes to Chris Lieto on the bike. At the end of the day Crowies 1:11:50 half marathon was simply too fast for the field and he got home just over three minutes ahead of second placed Lieto.

Australian Joe Gambles was the next Aussie home in 5th place with Paul Matthews right behind him in 6th. Surprise of the day was Tim Berkel finishing in 8th place. This was not a goal race for Berkel but he said to Trizone over the weekend that he was still going there to perform well. Luke Bell was 9th, Paul Ambrose 12th, Chris Legh 20th, Matty White 24th, … more to come.
